Agriculture in the Classroom held its annual national meeting in Halifax last week with a field-trip to the Faculty of Agriculture, June 29th.
Agriculture in the Classroom is an initiative of the Nova Scotia Agriculture Awareness committee and consists of executive directors and program managers for agriculture education groups across Canada as well as the members of the Nova Scotia Agriculture Awareness Committee.
The group aims to enhance knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the agriculture and agri-food industry by all Nova Scotians by taking a leadership role in the development and implementation of agricultural awareness initiatives.
Members of the group participated in a mini-AgZone while on campus and were thrilled to learn about the wide range of educational and career opportunities presented by the Faculty.
AgZone is an annual event co-hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture and the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture for the past eight years with the goal of promoting the science of agriculture and highlighting educational pathways to Grade 8 students.Â
